As in previous years, two voting blocs stand out as potential kingmakers: the TV Journalists Association (TVJA) and journalists affiliated with the Times Group. Both Khandekar and Gangan have been actively courting TVJA members, aware that this segment’s mood could swing the final outcome. The contest has also reopened a longer-running debate over representation within the Club — Khandekar comes from television, Gangan from print — with members questioning whether TV, digital, and regional journalists have historically had a fair share of representation. Whichever way the result swings, this election has become a battle over the kind of leadership, and the kind of Press Club, its members want going forward.
