In his address, Prime Minister Modi emphasized that while many major global economies are currently facing economic uncertainty and challenges, India’s growth journey continues to inspire the world. To achieve the vision of Viksit Bharat 2047, the Centre and all states must work together as Team India. The Prime Minister suggested identifying 100 high-potential districts across the country on a priority basis to accelerate agricultural growth. These districts could benefit from modern technology and AI-driven solutions to improve crop productivity and water management.

The Prime Minister urged states to focus on next-generation manufacturing and emerging industries. He stated that India’s 700 million youth represent the country’s greatest strength and that states must invest more in skill development to transform this demographic dividend into a development dividend. Referring to India’s recent trade agreements with several countries, PM Modi encouraged states to create new opportunities for Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) and actively work toward attracting foreign investment.

After the meeting, NITI Aayog Vice Chairman Ashok Kumar Lahiri briefed the media and noted that this was the first time in history that Chief Ministers from all 28 states participated together in the Governing Council meeting. The Prime Minister reiterated that India cannot become a fully developed nation unless every state progresses. Explaining the Viksit Bharat 2047 vision document, Lahiri cited the example of planning a journey to Mumbai, stating that if one aims to reach a destination within a month, the route and milestones must be mapped out in advance. Accordingly, the Viksit Bharat roadmap has now been divided into clearly defined short-term and medium-term goals.
