MahaCSR Authority Maharashtra – Maharashtra to Set Up MahaCSR Authority for Transparent Use of CSR Funds – To ensure effective, transparent, and coordinated utilization of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) capital across the state, Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis has directed officials to draft a proposal establishing the MahaCSR Authority. Speaking at a review meeting held at Sahyadri State Guest House, the Chief Minister emphasized that a centralized authority is essential to unite fragmented CSR efforts onto a single platform.

MahaCSR Authority Maharashtra – Governance Structure and Leadership Framework

Under the proposed framework, the MahaCSR Authority will be chaired by Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis. Its Governing Council will comprise senior state officials alongside industry leaders and corporate representatives. A Chief Executive Officer (CEO) will act as the Member-Secretary of the Governing Council and serve as the head of the Executive Council to oversee day-to-day operations and fund allocation.

 MahaCSR Authority Maharashtra – Core Responsibilities: Project Bank, SME Support, and Diaspora Engagement:

The authority will establish a curated Project Bank indexing high-priority state development initiatives, making it accessible to corporations and non-governmental organizations (NGOs). Additionally, the body will guide eligible Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) in selecting suitable development projects and vetted partner NGOs. Officials were also instructed to explore a “Diaspora Connect” model to channel contributions from non-resident Maharashtrians living abroad or in other Indian states toward state development goals.

MahaCSR Authority Maharashtra   – Special Emphasis on Maintenance and Upkeep of Built Assets

A primary focus of the new authority will be addressing asset decay by channeling CSR funds toward the repair, maintenance, and long-term upkeep of existing infrastructure. Chief Minister Fadnavis highlighted that many facilities created through CSR become non-functional over time due to a lack of operational maintenance funds, a vulnerability the proposed body seeks to resolve permanently.
