 Fake UPI Receipt Fraud – The MHB Colony Police in Borivali, Mumbai, have arrested two individuals from Rajasthan for allegedly defrauding a Mumbai-based chemical merchant out of ₹17.65 lakh. The accused created a fictitious corporate entity using forged Aadhaar and PAN cards, subsequently tricking the supplier with fabricated PhonePe digital payment screenshots. Following a coordinated technical investigation alongside local authorities in Rajasthan, Mumbai officers tracked down and apprehended the suspects in Jodhpur.

According to police officials, the prime accused 36-year-old Lalitkumar Bhagwanram Bishnoi and his 19-year-old associate Vikas Bishnoi contacted chemical trader Nirmitsanjay Ajmera over WhatsApp to place bulk orders. To gain the complainant’s trust, the suspects prepared fake visiting cards, letterheads, and business credentials under a bogus company named “Ramdev Industries,” backed by forged identity documents. After finalizing the purchase, the duo shared deceptive UPI payment screenshots featuring forged UTR numbers, leading the merchant to dispatch consignments before discovering no funds were credited.

Following a formal complaint lodged by the merchant, the MHB Colony Police launched a technical investigation analyzing mobile location data and digital footprints. Investigators discovered that the suspects were constantly shifting locations across North India. Coordinating with Rajasthan Police and cybercrime units, Mumbai officers identified a key mobile link and laid a trap in Mandore, Jodhpur, successfully taking Lalitkumar Bishnoi into custody before apprehending his accomplice Vikas Bishnoi.

Interrogations revealed that the cyber fraud module operated across multiple states, including Maharashtra, Gujarat, Delhi, Rajasthan, and Haryana. Investigators seized evidence showing the suspects had already created another fake shell company, “Shyam Industries,” using fake SIM cards and forged documents. Police confirmed the duo was actively preparing to approach around 39 other chemical suppliers across the region using the same modus operandi before their arrest halted further fraudulent activity.
