Mumbai Press Club Election 2026 Results: The Save Press Club Alliance scripted a landmark victory in the Mumbai Press Club Election 2026, securing every major office along with all 10 Managing Committee seats in a stunning display of unity, strategy and member support. Veteran journalist Surendra Gangan was elected the new President, defeating Rajiv Khandekar by an overwhelming margin of 322 votes. Gangan secured 582 votes, while Khandekar received 260 votes, making it one of the most decisive presidential victories in recent Press Club history. The scale of the win — a lead of well over two-to-one — stands in sharp contrast to the closely fought, anti-incumbency-driven campaign that preceded it, with the final numbers suggesting the discontent that shaped this election ran far deeper among voting members than even the alliance’s own supporters may have anticipated.

The Save Press Club Alliance also captured all other top positions in a commanding sweep: Chairperson S. Balakrishnan won with 510 votes, Vice Chairperson Dhondiba Mhaske with 537 votes, Secretary Anil Kumar Singh with 513 votes, Joint Secretary Sudhakar Kashyap with 517 votes, and Treasurer Om Prakash Tiwari with 487 votes. None of the alliance’s office-bearer candidates fell below the 480-vote mark, pointing to a consistency in support across every post rather than a single high-profile win carrying the rest of the ticket. A major highlight of the election was the alliance’s clean sweep of all 10 Managing Committee seats, underlining its complete dominance in the club’s new governing body and leaving PDA without a single representative across the entire leadership structure — office-bearer or committee-level.

The 10 Managing Committee seats were won by Vaibhav Parab, Swapnil Shinde, Poonam Apraj, Manisha Rege, Anita Shukla, Shahid Ansari, Aditya Dubey, Madhu Nainan, K.J. Bennychan, and Umesh Goswami. With every single committee seat going to the Save Press Club Alliance, the new governing body will carry no cross-party representation, a rare outcome for an institution that has historically seen at least some split in committee-level results even in years when the presidency changed hands. The election witnessed 862 votes polled, reflecting strong participation from Press Club members and lending the result a broad mandate rather than one decided by a narrow or low-turnout electorate.
