Central Railway Night Block – Central Railway Special Power Block for Three Nights to Disrupt Mumbai Local Train Services – Late-night commuters traveling on the Central Railway suburban network face altered schedules as authorities operate a special traffic and power block for three consecutive nights. The maintenance work is scheduled at Diva station between 1:20 AM and 3:20 AM on the nights of August 21-22, August 22-23, and August 23-24, 2026, to enable critical infrastructure development.

According to official statements from Central Railway, the two-hour night blocks are being executed to facilitate the erection of the Kalyan-end Foot Over Bridge (FOB) at Diva station. The work specifically impacts the UP and DOWN slow lines between Kalva and Dombivli stations. Railway engineers will undertake girder placements and structural assemblies during these midnight hours to minimize disruption to peak daytime passenger movement.

During the block window, two key late-night suburban local train services originating from Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus (CSMT) will be re-routed. The 12:08 AM Kasara-bound local and the 12:12 AM Karjat-bound local leaving CSMT will be diverted to the DOWN fast line between Thane and Kalyan stations. Consequently, these two diverted services will skip scheduled halts at Thakurli and Kopar stations.

Compounding the weekend travel changes, Central Railway will also conduct its regular daytime Mega Block on Sunday, August 23, across the Main Line (CSMT to Vidyavihar) and Harbour Line (Kurla to Vashi). Commuters are advised by railway officials to review the revised suburban timetables before embarking on late-night or weekend journeys.
