Earth Aphelion 2026 While Earth will reach its farthest point from the Sun (aphelion) on July 6, residents in the Northern Hemisphere will experience no relief from the intense summer heat. This astronomical event has little impact on daily temperatures compared to other factors.

Earth Aphelion 2026 – Orbital Distance at Aphelion Varies Minimal Solar Radiation

Aphelion occurs when Earth’s elliptical orbit takes it approximately 152.1 million kilometres away from the Sun, compared to about 147.1 million km at perihelion (closest point) in early January. Despite this extra distance, which is about 3-4% farther, the difference in solar radiation is minimal and does not cause noticeable cooling during summer.

The primary reason for seasons is the 23.5-degree tilt of Earth’s axis.
